Character
Name: Obito Uchiha
Series: Naruto
Timeline: The point where he fell unconscious after the rocks fell on him.
Canon Resource Links: Obito's Narutopedia Page
Personality:
Obito is one of those people who will never be blamed for being heartless or unemotional. He simply doesn't have it in him to not feel everything with a raging intensity that in later canon points proves to make him a very formidable enemy in a fight. At this point in time though, his emotions hinder more than help him, and he often finds himself in disputes with his teammate over rules, being on time, and anything else one can imagine. He also is easily moved to tears, something he finds rather embarrassing, often brushing off tears of distress, anger, or embarrassment as having gotten something in his eye to try to cover how much of a softie he is.
He wants nothing more than for things to be better around him, ultimately, and nothing ever wavers him from this path. Unfortunately, he is not immune to the possibility of walking very dark roads to get to his end goals, and his optimism can be fragile if his faith in his teammates is shaken badly enough. The trick to that though is actually managing to find that chink in his armor, because he is very used to having to roll with failures, both self inflicted and unpredictable, and has learned how to defend himself from the typical sorts of barbs. He was, after all, considered the idiot of his team, even by himself, and he knew that his opinions were perhaps not the most valued because of how often he would play the fool.
Still, Obito is not without his own sort of resolute charisma, and his steadfast loyalty to those he considers dear to him is, at this age, one of his most brightly shining features. He believes in teamwork with all his heart during this timeframe, utterly certain that so long as he and his teammates stand together, that no one will be truly left behind. He risks his life readily for his teammates, no matter what opinion they hold of him, because they're important to him and he trusts them to carry forward even if he can't. It is a sort of faith that is intense, and at this point unshaken, so there is no hesitation when he thinks he's about to die. He knew that he could put all his faith in his teammates, because that's what teammates were for.
Obito may have a temper, and he isn't always the most intelligent of people, but his way with words can be startling and often far too honest. He sees no reason to lie, and he goes forward through his life while trying to be as genuine as possible. Often, this is enough to strongly affect those around him, though not always for the positive, and definitely not always to his benefit. Many of the darkest examples of this, however, come from after the point from which he is taken.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
He is an adept shinobi, enough so to be more than just a bottom rank follower.
He's loyal. Nothing can tear him away from going after someone he cares about if they need him.
He's determined. His goals might be lofty, and he might seem like a dreamer, but he's willing to put in the work to get there.
He pays attention. He may not always be able to use it in combat, or when his temper is up, but Obito pays attention and does his best to learn from mistakes, or even just to take care if someone around him is hurting.
Weaknesses:
He's not the brightest. It's true, he's a bit stupid sometimes, letting himself fall into bad habits and worse excuses instead of fixing the little mistakes while they're still manageable.
He has a temper. He has the rather unfortunate habit of shouting his opinions once he gets angry. Suffice to say this is not the best approach.
He has a late streak. The joke that he would be late to his own funeral unfortunately seems somewhat true in his case.
He's over emotional. While this could be lumped into him having a temper, not all his outbursts are angry, and not all of them are loud, but most of them are not to his benefit.
He's a bit clumsy. A little too slow, and just a hair off target, but he really tries!

[The first thing that everyone hears as the connection turns on is a rather loud, painful sounding clatter which indicated that the Pokédex had just made a rather abrupt acquaintance with the ground.]
Ah crap. Sorry! Sorry everyone! [The picture resolves itself at this point into a rather sheepish looking teenager, who is turning the device this way and that, clearly trying to determine which way was up.] I'm kinda new here and haven't gotten used to all the new technical stuff that this place seems to have. This thing is pretty sleek though right?
[He finally settled on an angle, which thankfully seemed to be right way up.] Anyway, I just wanted to give an all call and a hello to everyone out there and ask a rather uh, specialized question.
Only a few of you might get what I'm getting at here but, um, did anyone else seriously fail the whole climbing ledges class after getting here that I could have sworn that I'd passed when I was seven? I mean, I got down fine but... serious issues getting back up.
Like, really serious issues.
Third Person Sample:
Waking up whole had been possibly the most disturbing moment of his entire life. Sure, he'd had all the typical highs and lows of a shinobi in a war in his past, but those highs and lows had always made a sort of internal sense that said 'yes, this is real, this is right,' and he'd been able to handle that without any kind of issue. This though, this had been... different. Waking up with two eyes when he remembered giving one away was wrong, seriously wrong. That eye didn't belong to him anymore. That eye should have been in his teammate's head being useful and he...
He should have been dead. In fact, he still wasn't entirely sure that he hadn't died, but the odds were seriously leaning towards that entire 'nope you're alive' direction, what with the ability to get hurt and all that he still had. Stubbing his toe rather magnificently the first morning had quickly put the thought to rest of it being anything but true. It made him wonder if everyone who died ended up someplace like this, really, someplace different, but nice in a weird way where they could sort out their thoughts and maybe make new friends.
He looked over at his pokémon, the ponyta just in reach from where his petting had put her to sleep before he'd gone all introspective about the last few days. His hand was still resting on her, in fact, the reassuring warmth yet another of those brilliant cues that he was alive.
So, maybe he got a hero's death and a wonderful afterlife? That would be nice, really nice.
Still, he wasn't going to take any chances with this place, and he would learn everything he could to make sure that he did things the right way this time. His hand resumed petting his sleeping pokémon at that point. "It's just you and me Katon. You and me and whoever else we pick up along the way, but we can do it. I'm sure of it."
