[Getting to Violet had been a bit of an adventure, with a few stops to let the pokemon rest, and to get together things needed in Cherrywood. Thus, it had taken a bit longer than strictly warranted, but they had still gotten back to Violet before the rest of the people they were meeting there.

Obito was honestly surprised this was the case, but had immediately put up the money for all of them to stay somewhere, since he had it, so that when the others arrived they'd had a place set up and ready too.

Now, with everyone finally assembled, more or less at least, it was time to let everyone he'd... sort of failed to actually reassure over the last few weeks know that he was okay. Thus, his goal when he turned on his gear, outside with his Charizard curled around his back as something to lean on, and a young Lapras in his lap.]

Hey, everyone. I know that over the last few weeks you guys haven't been hearing much from me, and I'd like to apologize for that.

There were some... issues with my traveling situation. For those of you I did talk to, I'm fine, and if I worried you, well, as you can see...

I'm good.

[If one ignored the bandage on his cheek, the bruise that was a brilliant color on his forehead that dipped down over his eyebrow, and who knows what else that was out of sight.]

[The best he could do really was remind his students that he was there for them, open and supportive, whether just to listen or have their back when trouble arose.

He hadn't been doing much better of a job of that here than he had back home, so far. But at least Obito felt comfortable enough to talk to him, regardless of whether Minato had the answers or not.

He exhaled a short hum of amusement at the subject shift to Kakashi, and nudged Obito's side lightly.]

He had to grow up some time, didn't he? I think I'd be more worried if he still acted like a teenager as an adult.

[He'd assumed the "weird" comment was about the supposed late pervert Kakashi had become.]

He frowns.]

Perhaps not a genjutsu, not on this scale, but there are other ways to manufacture a reality than to actually generate that reality.

[He has never heard of said plan. Also, what?]

He's a genjutsu specialist, isn't he? Neji's never really been a fan of those--as evidenced by working consistently with team full of people without a drop of genjutsu.

He sighs and shakes his head.] Manipulating an illusionary reality wouldn't be necessary. Anything with the ability to bring back the dead and summon them to a place repeatedly must also be able to manipulate actual reality to some extent or another.

But how would they pick their targets? What about those whose bodies were seriously modified?

A prolonged transformation jutsu might explain any physical modifications present, although it would be a drain...there is an exceptional amount of chakra constantly going missing. Including that of a tailed beast. [Because if they weren't doing something with that creature's chakra then Naruto would still be able to access it as he did in the chuunin exams, he would think, no matter how tightly they've apparently managed to seal the creature within him.]

You're not accounting for the people who have no chakra though. Or at least, no usable chakra. You can't exactly ignore them.

[He shook his head and then frowned a little.]

Haven't you ever heard the term 'the simplest solution isn't always a wrong one'?

[Though he wouldn't be surprised at sincerity there too- Obito's death had left a hollow silence in all their lives, and it seemed obvious to him from the stories he'd heard of the older Kakashi that his student hadn't had an easier time of dealing with it despite the passing of years.]

[He shook his head at once.]

If he'd actually done it I might've though so but he had this look. It was... weird. Worrying. What happened to him after I died sensei?

I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to tell you much about how he changed.

[He'd died not long after, himself. And Rin...]

I can tell you he became a little less serious, at least. The death of a comrade changes a person Obito, it's not surprising he would be much different after losing us.

We're not the whole team you know Sensei. But... I guess even Rin can only do so much huh?

Alright, alright, it ain't the best reason, I'll give ya that. But if y'knew him, you'd prolly feel the same way. [He returns the grin and laughs, just thinking about it. Imagining Tseng with a brood of Pokemon surrounding him was just too much.]

Anyhow, let me know when y'got a free moment t'get some trainin' in.

[That wasn't really much of an answer, a low hum in agreement.

Rin had tried, of course, they all had, but...

He didn't know whether to say more or not- it might have been better for Rin to explain some things to Obito herself.]

[The answer got his sensei an odd look. Usually the man wasn't so... ambiguous. Ahhh nope nope his mind didn't even care to try to follow up on questioning that one so he peeled off from that thought pretty fast.]

Hey, Sensei? How did you even die? Nobody told me that bit. Just that you did and Kyuubi was involved. Did it like... eat you or step on you or something?

[He stayed quiet after Obito's questions, debating just how much he should share. Not that he didn't trust his student (and really, it didn't matter what was learned here), but it was habit to keep some of that information secret.]

...The Kyuubi was summoned into the village the night Naruto was born, and I used the Shiki Fūjin to seal away half of it. The rest was sealed into Naruto, making him a host.

[He was quiet for a long moment then, looking to the side as he processed before finally speaking again.]

And that's why Kushina-nee died too, isn't it Sensei?

Yeah.

[His tone softened with that affirmation, the memories of his wife, angry and desperate, playing back through his mind.

He'd never be able to forget the pain he'd felt watching her that night.]

She was with me... in the end.
