[The first thing that everyone hears as the connection turns on is a rather loud, painful sounding clatter which indicated that the Pokédex had just made a rather abrupt acquaintance with the ground.]

Ah crap. Sorry! Sorry everyone! [The picture resolves itself at this point into a rather sheepish looking teenager, who is turning the device this way and that, clearly trying to determine which way was up.] I'm kinda new here and haven't gotten used to all the new technical stuff that this place seems to have. This thing is pretty sleek though right? Even if the road is pretty, well, snowy. And cold. But hey, I have Katon so it's not like I'll freeze!

[There was a nearly upside down showing of his Ponyta at this point before he finally settled on an angle, which thankfully seemed to be right way up as the camera focused on him again.] Anyway, I just wanted to give an all call and a hello to everyone out there and ask a rather uh, specialized question.

Only a few of you might get what I'm getting at here but, um, did anyone else seriously fail the whole climbing ledges class after getting here that I could have sworn that I'd passed when I was seven? I mean, I got down fine but... serious issues getting back up.

Like, really serious issues.

Well, I have a motto see, that was inspired by something he was constantly saying. "Those who break the rules are trash, but those who abandon their comrades are worse than trash." I yelled a few more things at him than that, but I was tired of him saying things like that because I wouldn't always follow the narrow rules and I -wouldn't- abandon our other teammate for them.

Sora's taken to saying friendship is his power. And it's true, his connections with others are truly formidable.

Rules don't cover every contingency, although I come from a plane of absolutes. Data can only operate as it was intended, but I understand what you're saying. And I think he did too.

See, that's why I gave him my eye. I might've died anyway if he hadn't come back, but he and I... we never would have understood one another and I was happy to have that, at the end.

[Ponders that for a few moments as he tucks his hands into the pockets of his Ditto-coat and gets a ticklish little sound in response.

[He flashed a grin.] But I don't mind at all if you do stuff like that, it's nice.

Just seemed like the kind of thing people'd do about then.

[Although he's not entirely sure why. Such things are still lost on him]

[He thought about it a moment.] Well, anything like that is cool with me. I've always been super affectionate so don't worry about it if you wanna try some cue or something and think you should hesitate.

[This would be the sound of him thinking way too hard about what a cue is]

...I don't understand how pool relates to the matter at hand.

I meant, if something made you want to do something. Like, it seemed appropriate. You're gonna make me use long words for everything aren't you?

I'm not all that smart compared to you so I'm not so hot at explaining things, that's all. I wasn't aiming for an apology.

In terms of being human, you know a lot more than I do.

Yeah well, you know and take in things super well and I'm all... flaily failtastic. I mean yeah sure I know all kinds of way to, you know, kill a guy or something, but that is supremely unhelpful when nobody is trying to hurt someone I care about.

If you feel that way, why not look into making those skills functional in other areas?

And I'm sure I'll find other uses too. I'm pretty sure the whole espionage and survival training won't go -completely- to waste, I just gotta figure it out. I just... feel a little useless cause you know all this stuff that's useful here and I haven't got a freaking clue. I'm glad, I mean, it makes you great, but I'm not proving all that useful to you yet now am I?

It's just what I was made for, I wouldn't call it a talent or skill so much as a matter of how I was built. There's a difference between what a program can do and what a human learns.

It'd only be a problem if I wasn't useful.

Don't put it like that man! You're human right now. Sure you may have been made awesome but it's no different than in a clan like mine where there's a lot of careful breeding for optimum genetics and whatnot. You just got it done more efficiently.

Oh yeah. Clans are super big on checking out any potential inbound mates and anyone marrying in from outside the clan -has- to be super exceptional. Otherwise it's encouraged to marry within the family as long as the relationship is far enough to avoid other y'know, issues.

...Sounds complicated.

Not as much as it sounds like, it's just, you know, not romantic.

Well, they do. They mean a lot, but it depends how valuable you are. The more powerful you are, the more likely it is that a marriage will be arranged for you to get the best babies, see?
